Bikini Atoll: is an uninhabited atoll about 6 km ² superficie.11 ° 37'N 165 ° 25'E. It is one of the atolls that make up the Marshall Islands. It consists of 36 islands that border a lake of about 594.2 km ². Bikini comes from marchalés "Pik" meaning "surface" and "Ni" which means "coconut", "Bikini" is derived from the words.

It is famous for nuclear tests were conducted in it. As part of the test Territories of the Pacific Ocean was a place were tested more than 20 atomic and hydrogen bombs between 1946 and 1958.

Before the nuclear tests, the indigenous population was relocated to Rongerik Atoll. These tests began in July 1946. In the late 60's and early 70's, some of the original settlers tried to return from Kili Island, but were evacuated due to high levels of radioactivity.

On July 31, 2010, UNESCO added the Bikini Atoll as the first World Heritage Marshall.1 Islands.
