These boxes are operated by means of rivets located in a rotating cylinder or disc, which when touched by a metal brush, produce sound. Were developed based on a type of music boxes of the eighteenth century and called carillons to musique. Some of the most complex music boxes also had a tiny drum and small bells, in addition to wire brush.
